Milky Way
My home location is very unsuitable for photographing the milky way due to light pollution. I made several attempts in Portugal to image the Milky Way but was thwarted by a bright moon and then the light pollution from the airport, although my location was a dark sky.
To ensure a dark sky I went to Alice Springs in Australia during a visit to Australia and took this image. Successful Milky way photography requires a lot of planning with regard to the moon, location of the milky way and light pollution.
